Over the weekend, MG Siegler at TechCrunch started a meme about why everyone is hating on Google nowadays.
(Since Google weighed in on patents, it has been receiving quite a bit of invective.)
Siegler's conclusion: Everyone hates Google because it's trying to do everything all at once.
Maybe. Google certainly is trying a lot of different businesses, but that's not really anything new. It's been doing that for years. And really, as Danny Sullivan points out, there's nothing wrong with that.
Dan Lyons of Newsweek has a better reason for why everyone hates Google now, and it's pretty simple: "I would point out one thing. In tech, whenever you see companies teaming up and forming partnerships and alliances against one company, it always means the same thing: that company is winning."
