You will be able to reserve Tesla's next car for just $1,000

You will be able to claim Tesla's next car for a deposit of just $1,000.

CEO Elon Musk announced the reservation price early Thursday morning via Twitter. He also said that Tesla stores would begin accepting the $1,000 reservations for the Model 3 beginning March 31st and April 1st.

To put that pricing into perspective, consumers can currently place an order for the $80,000 Model X for a deposit of $5,000. The Model S requires a $2,500 deposit.

 Musk also said via Twitter that unlike the Model X, there will be no Signature Series for the Model 3, meaning there will be no premium version that requires a greater deposit. 

We'll get our first look at the Model 3 on March 31st. But so far we know it will be smaller than a Model S, have a range of about 200 miles per charge, and cost $35,000 before incentives.
