27East just published a list of the top residential water users on the East End, which it obtained by submitting a Freedom of Information Act request to the Suffolk County Water Authority (via Curbed Hamptons).
The biggest water guzzler -- who in 2010 used 18.4 million gallons, or 115 times the county average, was none other than Mickey Drexler, chairman and CEO of clothing retailer J. Crew.
His $10 million home on Ocean Road in Bridgehampton sits on six acres, according to 27East.
The second biggest water user was Andrew Zaro, chairman of Westchester-based Cavalry Portfolio Services. His estate on Rosehill Road in Water Mill used 13.5 million gallons of water last year.
Ospraie Management founder Dwight Anderson and hotelier Ian Schrager also made the list, as did the estate of former Lazard CEO Bruce Wasserstein, who died in 2009.
Six of the top ten residential water users are located in Southampton Village, and of those, three are located on Meadow Lane, 27East reports.
