July 8, 2010: the day LeBron James set up shop in a Greenwich gymnasium and brought the most frenzied summer in NBA history came to its strange climax.
An hour later, he had cemented his status as sports’ biggest villain, crushed the hopes and dream of Cleveland, and created one of the most iconic catchphrases in sports when he decided he would move to Miami and play for the Heat.
It’s unclear whether things would have been different for LeBron if he never made "The Decision". Would he be as maligned if he had simply told the Cavs he was leaving and quietly boarded a plane to South Beach?
Either way, this show and LeBron’s decision was the catalyst for one of the greatest NBA seasons in recent history. It was bizarre, and ultimately good for the league.
