Roku has expanded its smart TV lineup with two brand-new models: The Roku Pro Series OLED and the Roku Pro Series LX OLED. Yes, you read that correctly. Both models use OLED display panels, which is a first for Roku. Even better, both TVs undercut most OLED rivals from LG, Samsung, and Sony, with some of the lowest starting prices I've seen yet.
I review the best TVs year-round, and OLED remains one of my favorite display technologies for home theater fans. Unlike other panel types, OLED TVs can produce true black levels that disappear into a dark room, and their wide viewing angles help the picture stay rich and accurate even when you're sitting off to the side. Roku's new OLED models aim to pair those picture-quality strengths with the brand's simple, user-friendly software, all while maintaining highly competitive pricing.
Both Roku OLED TVs are exclusive to Amazon and come in 55- and 65-inch sizes. Here's a closer look at what they cost and what you get.
Roku Pro Series OLED TV price and specs
The Roku Pro Series OLED TV is the brand's entry-level OLED option. This set promises all the key benefits of OLED technology — pixel-level dimming, an infinite contrast ratio, and wide viewing angles — while using Roku's simple, reliable smart TV interface.
Though it's not yet clear exactly what type of OLED panel this model uses, based on the details Roku has shared so far, the Pro Series OLED seems comparable to LG's B Series and Samsung's S85 Series, both of which are considered entry-level OLEDs. Like those competing models, the Pro Series OLED boasts a 120Hz refresh rate with VRR support for gamers.
But the Pro Series OLED stands out from its rivals in terms of price. The 55-inch model is listed at $999, which is notably less than the $1,499 list price of the latest Samsung S85 OLED and still under the $1,299 list price of the LG B6E OLED. Of course, those LG and Samsung models often get great discounts, but if Roku's OLED starts at a lower MSRP, it's likely to get even better deals over the coming months.
The Pro Series OLED also has a few other nice Roku touches, like a handy backlit voice remote and an easy-to-assemble stand that doesn't require tools. The Roku 55- and 65-inch Pro Series OLED TVs are both available now at Amazon. I'm aiming to test the TV soon to see how it stacks up to the best OLED TVs on the market.
Roku Pro Series LX OLED TV price and specs
The Roku Pro Series LX OLED TV is the company's premium OLED option. It retains the same core features and design as the base model but offers a better remote with hands-free voice control and a rechargeable battery, a more effective anti-glare screen, and a few picture-quality upgrades.
Roku says the Pro Series LX OLED has a faster 144Hz refresh rate, higher brightness, and wider color support than the standard Pro Series OLED. Roku says this model uses a different OLED panel than the regular Pro Series, but it's not clear whether that means it still uses a WOLED display or a more advanced four-stack or QD-OLED display.
Considering its highly competitive pricing, however, it's most likely that the LX OLED uses a brightness-optimized WOLED panel, like the OLED evo panel used in LG's C Series. At an MSRP of $1,299 for the 55-inch model and $1,599 for the 65-inch model, the Pro Series LX OLED also undercuts the list prices of direct rivals from LG and Samsung.
