As a mom of 3, I get why all the soccer moms are trading their canvas totes for Bogg Bags

I'm one of those weird people who doesn't like carrying a purse. I have a phone case that is a wallet and holds my credit card, ID, and health insurance. I keep a pair of sunglasses in my car in case I need them. And I always wear clothes with pockets.

But when I had kids, I realized that the days of not having to carry a bag were gone. I needed something to keep all their things contained. I have three kids, ages 7, 5, and 5, so I'm always lugging three water bottles and tons of snacks for everyone.

If we go to the beach or the pool, I also have to add bathing suits, goggles, water toys, towels, and sunscreen.

None of my canvas tote bags were up for the challenge — they were too small to fit everything, would get wet and moldy, and the straps just didn't stay on my shoulder — so I decided to try the Bogg Bag to see if it was the solution I needed. I was surprised.

Bogg Bag makes the tote in three sizes

  • Original Bogg Bag: The largest size, made for family beach trips or kids' sports games. It comes with two clear insert bags.
  • Baby Bogg Bag: A medium-sized tote with space for one person's daily essentials. It comes with one small, clear insert bag.
  • Bitty Bogg Bag: A handbag version, suited for small items. It also comes with one small insert bag.

I got two sizes to see which one would work best for our family. I chose the Original Bogg because it looked like it was big enough to fit all the stuff for a beach day, and also the Baby Bogg for when we are doing a quick outing to a playground or a friend's house and need to carry less stuff.

When they arrived, I was thrilled at how vibrant the colors were. I love wearing colorful stuff, and having bright bags also makes it easier for my kids to find our umbrellas or recognize them in the park when they want to grab their water bottles.

I was worried the size of the original Bogg might be too heavy, even without anything in it, but when I picked it up, it was both light and sturdy. Another pleasant surprise.

Bogg Bags are perfect for mom life

I had seen other people carrying the Bogg Bag around Maine, where I live, especially at the beach. I figured parents liked it because it's waterproof and has side holes to make cleaning easy — both features I appreciate.

I tried the Baby Bogg first when we had a school picnic. Its size was perfect for water bottles and snacks, and its smaller design made it look less like a beach bag.

So many moms asked me about my Bogg Bag, which surprised me because I feel like I've seen them everywhere lately, and they're sort of the new "It-bag" for parents, but I was ready to share the info because I'm a mom's mom.

I then put the Original Bogg to the test with a trip to our local pool, where I needed to carry my twins' floaties on top of everything else. I was shocked when everything we wanted to bring fit comfortably. Usually, my husband carries one bag with stuff, and I carry the other.

My husband has made the Original his bag because he loves that he can stuff everything in and still have two free hands to help kids out of the car.

They have so many accessories

Having not owned anything by the brand, I didn't know they made more than just the bags — they also have accessories to go with them.

I got a beauty organizer that I use to carry sunscreen for the whole family. It fits several bottles, and the bottom is rubber, so if anything leaks, it's easy to clean.

The other accessory that I really loved was the cooler insert, which fits the Original Bogg Bag perfectly. It's ideal for families like mine, especially when we're out and about all day. When we spent the entire day at a lake, we were able to bring sandwiches and fruit for everyone. Because it fits inside the original, it again means that all the stuff is contained inside the bag instead of carrying multiple items.

I went from being Bogg-curious this summer to absolutely loving my Bogg Bags.
