Billionaire businessman Bill Koch paid $2.3 million for a rare photo of Billy the Kid at an auction in Denver this weekend, according to eXtravaganzi.
Koch, who is the twin brother of David Koch, bid $2 million for the photo. A $300,000 buyer's premium was tacked on.
The photo, shot outside a saloon in 1879 or 1880, is believed to be the only surviving authenticated picture of the infamous bandit.
The auction house initially expected the photo to sell for between $300,000 and $400,000.
