Amazon Web Services is going through the most significant leadership change in its history as new CEO Adam Selipsky settles into the role.
Selipsky is now in command of the most dominant cloud platform in the market, but will also have to grapple with sweeping organizational changes and what insiders say is an ongoing exodus of top talent — perhaps most notably in the form of the loss of veteran executive Charlie Bell, who took a job at chief rival Microsoft.
Insider mapped out where things stand and identified the top 72 executives who run AWS under Selispky based on AWS's organizational chart as of September 2021, which is available internally but not to the public. Amazon's spokesperson did not comment.
Following Bell's departure in August, Selipsky in an email sent to AWS VPs and viewed by Insider revealed AWS executive Peter DeSantis, who is a member of Amazon's overall "S-team" leadership team, is taking over utility computing for Bell while Prasad Kalyanaraman will lead Infrastructure and Network Services. Both executives report to Selipsky.
